Plant Based Nutrition

A whole-food, plant-based (WFPB) diet a way of eating free from meat, dairy products, or oils. Sugar and salt are also often avoided. Limit refined carbohydrates including white rice and white flour. Replace white rice with brown rice and opt for products made from whole wheat.

Staples of the WFPB diet include fruits, leafy green vegetables, legumes, cruciferous vegetables, unrefined or minimally refined grains, starchy vegetables, nuts and seeds.

This healthy way of eating has been shown to not only prevent the onset of many chronic diseases, but also can aid in controlling and even reversing many chronic diseases.  Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Obesity related illnesses can all be significantly impacted by a change to a whole-food, plant-based diet.

With a WFPB diet there is no need to be concerned about getting enough protein, calcium, iron, etc. Build your plate with the colors of the rainbow in mind, and you will ensure you get plenty of nutrients with each meal.
